Ride Smart E-Bike Course Online (Scroll Down for Combination

Ride Smart: E-Bike Safety Essentials (Online Only)

USA Online E-Bike Safety Training for Youth, Teens, Families, and New Riders

E-bikes are fun, practical, and exciting—but they are not just regular bicycles with a motor. Their speed, acceleration, weight, and use in traffic create unique safety challenges for new riders.

Ride Smart: E-Bike Safety Essentials USA is an online course designed to help riders build the knowledge, confidence, and safe habits needed to ride electric bikes responsibly.

Whether you are a youth rider, teen, parent, first-time e-bike owner, or family looking to ride together safely, this course provides a strong foundation for safer e-bike use.

Why E-Bike Safety Training Matters

E-bike use is growing rapidly across the country. More people are riding e-bikes for recreation, transportation, commuting, and family fun. But with that growth comes a serious need for rider education.

E-bikes can accelerate quickly, travel at higher speeds than traditional bicycles, and place riders in more complex traffic situations. Young and inexperienced riders may not fully understand the risks until they are already in a dangerous situation.

The goal of Ride Smart is simple:

Help riders make safer choices every time they ride.

This course teaches riders how to recognize hazards, understand traffic responsibilities, use proper safety equipment, and ride with greater awareness and control.

Who This Course Is For

Ride Smart is a great fit for:

Youth and teens new to e-bikes
A strong starting point for younger riders before they begin riding more independently.

First-time e-bike riders of any age
Perfect for adults who are new to electric bikes and want to understand how to ride safely and confidently.

Parents and families
Helpful for families who want to establish safe riding habits, expectations, and rules before riding together.

New e-bike owners
A smart first step before taking your new e-bike into neighborhoods, bike lanes, paths, or traffic.

What Riders Will Learn

Participants will learn the unique characteristics of e-bikes and how those differences affect safety.

Course topics include:

  • Safe acceleration, braking, and cornering at higher speeds
  • Hazard recognition and defensive riding strategies
  • Proper lane positioning and intersection behavior
  • Traffic laws and responsibilities for e-bike riders
  • Helmet use, visibility, and equipment safety
  • Risk factors such as distraction, speed, and mixed-traffic environments
  • Safer decision-making for youth, teens, families, and first-time riders
  •

Build Confidence Before the Ride

The best time to learn safe e-bike habits is before a crash, close call, or bad habit develops.

Ride Smart helps riders understand not only how an e-bike works, but how to think like a safer rider. The course focuses on awareness, judgment, responsibility, and practical riding decisions.

By completing this course, riders will be better prepared to:

  • Understand how e-bikes behave differently from traditional bicycles
  • Recognize common risk situations before they become emergencies
  • Ride more predictably around vehicles, pedestrians, and other cyclists
  • Make better choices at intersections, crossings, and shared-use areas
  • Use helmets, lights, and visibility equipment more effectively
  • Develop safer habits for neighborhood, path, and street riding

A Smart First Step for Families

For parents, an e-bike can bring up important questions:

Is my child ready to ride an e-bike?
Do they understand traffic behavior?
Do they know how speed changes stopping distance?
Will they make safe choices around cars, pedestrians, and other riders?

Ride Smart gives families a shared foundation. Parents and riders can use the course as a starting point for conversations about responsibility, rules, boundaries, and safe riding expectations.

Course Format

Ride Smart: E-Bike Safety Essentials USA is an online course that can be completed from home at your own pace.

This makes it convenient for:

  • Families with busy schedules
  • New riders preparing before their first ride
  • Teens needing a structured safety foundation
  • Adults who want practical e-bike safety knowledge
  • Groups or organizations introducing riders to e-bike use

Ride Smart Before You Ride Fast

E-bikes can open the door to adventure, independence, transportation, and fun. But safe riding starts with education.

Before taking an e-bike into traffic, onto bike paths, or around other riders and pedestrians, take time to understand the risks and responsibilities that come with electric bike use.

Ride Smart. Ride Prepared. Ride Safer.
