We have the range! We are getting the training bikes! We have the coach! Coming soon in 2025, we will be offering the Basic Rider Course in the Waco, Texas area (in Elm Mott at the American Legion, Post 121). This is a 2 day on the range course (plus a 5 hour online mandatory E-Course). Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to get your motorcycle ("M" endorsement) on your Texas Drivers License. The cost of these classes will be $285.00.
The riding part of the course will be on a Saturday AND Sunday in Elm Mott. You will need to have the following: DOT helmet (we have a few loaner helmets but bringing your own is encouraged), full-fingered gloves, eye protection (sunglasses or regular glasses are fine), long sleeve shirt, long pants with no holes (jeans, no sweatpants), and over the ankle boots. Water and Gatorade will be provided. Stay tuned for classes to be posted. If need a basic class before 2025, we recommend Horny Toad Harley Davidson in Temple, TX.
Our classes will be small. With a limited supply of training motorcycles, we anticipate classes of 3 to 4 students at a time. This works to your advantage. For this course, you are expected to be a ride a bicycle. If it has been a long time since you have practiced balance on two wheels, spending some time on a bicycle will help. If you are having difficulty with balance in the class’s early stages, you will find it difficult to learn control operation as the class progresses. While your progress will never, ever, be measured against others in the class, we do not have a “learning to balance” exercise in the Basic Rider Course. Balance skills are something that you need to bring to class. Check yourself out on a bicycle, this tip really does work. You should be able to ride in a straight line for at least 200 feet. You should be able to easily make a U-turn well within the width of a two-lane street. If you are unable to stabilize the motorcycle in a straight line you will have to discontinue participation in class. If there's any doubt, get out on a bike. Discovering at class that balance is an issue is too late
